Opinions on Ruger Bearcat?

Anyone own and shoot their Ruger .22lr bearcat?  This looks like a fun handgun to shoot.   How accurate is it? (I think it has fixed sights).  Thanks for the replies.

Type in     Bearcat       in the search feature.  Alot of comments.

I just bought a used (in excellent condition) old model Super made in 73, a few days ago.  Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but plan to do so ASAP.  Paid $316     included an excellent condition hunter holster with strap.  I really like it.

This is one of the few guns I plan never to sell. It is an old model, with fixed sights, aluminun frame (I think - could be brass) quite a bit of wear and a few dings in the grips. (dings I said, not notches!  )

I bought it cheap several years ago because it needed some kind of work (don't remember exactly what). I had the work done, and it has been fun and fine ever since.

I used it to introduce both my kids to shooting at an early age. My son used it, when he was five (me helping him hold it up) at a local junior rimfire Cowboy match and won one of the stages with it. :cb2: Got a prize at the evenin's awards. He still talks about it!

I missed a cherry one the other day at a local gun store. Decided to go home and count my pennies :money: then found it gone when I went back to haggle for it! Dang! :(

Cheers

Bearcats are sweet shooting guns.  Lightweight and perfect for packing while walking the woods.  Love mine!  Don't worry about the fixed sights, most shoot to the sights but if it doesn't with one ammo, you can try a different brand or bullet type and find one that will.  Several of my .22s prefer Federal HPs, but a couple like Remington goldens.  I have one marlin rifle that will shoot dime sized groups with CCI stingers, so try a lot of different ammo to find out what your gun likes then stick with it.

Amen on the Marlin and Stingers.  Never have been able to get those things to shoot in anything else but that Marlin loves them!!!!

I have a new model, about a year old.  Shoots right to the sights!  It's accounted for half a dozen squirrels.

Les Hembly and .44man, my Marlin rifle as well as my S&W's 617 and 63 like the Stingers very well.  All have had their barrels firelapped.
