I bought the Ruger Hawkeye in matt,wood .358 win.

What a nice rifle,,excellent fit,finish and feel. But, I think I made a mistake. I have 3 .358 win. already all lever guns. I just bought it on impulse !But man what a nice rifle, I just sit and stare at it then pick it up and stare some more.
   Ruger sends high mounts in the box, do they make a medium or low mount ? or is there and aftermarket mount that could be had ? Where would I get a set. Now back to looking and feeling ;D

Call the Ruger Service Dept.

If the original rings are still in the sealed blister pack, Ruger has always swaped them out in the past for a set of medium or low rings @ N/C.

I'm sorry guys but I'm a dumb old **** and I just can"t figure out how to post pictures. Guys are always asking for pictures of the bears I've taken. The only way I know how to sent them is to someones e-mail then they post them on a site for me.

I called Ruger this morning and was told the rings that come with it are medium  but they look tall to me. What do you guys think ? Still haven"t figured out what scope to put on it yet as well as on  my model 88 .308

Do you have the rings on right??----one is taller than the other.

Most of the problems come from bolt handle clearance vs barrel clearance.

Congratulations on your purchase. I think the .358 Win MKII's are one of the best balanced handling bolt actions out there, and I'm  tempted to get one myself before they disappear again! It sure is a great caliber!
