Wishing for something new & different in the c&r market
« on: December 25, 2008, 04:53:06 AM »
I been wishing and hoping for something new or different in our C&R market lately.  I think there are a few more countries that have sks's.  Some of the swedish rifles were seeing are purchased from the swedish civilians and shipped over here to sell to us.  I just wish we had something different offered to us to stir up the C&R market again. On the other hand we have some new saiga's comming soon too.  If you want one you better look at your local dealer often for them. There not a C&R but there the hottest buy we have seen in a longtime.  Remember there a brand new russian izhmash saiga (ak47/akm) in a sporter wrapper.  I never dreamed of owning an ak but a brand new russian one.  I love america...... ;D

I think the EU put a stop on shipping arms to america(european union).

If i was looking for an FN49 in 06 (Luxemborg) marked "AL" on the receiver i would stay looking at pawnshops and gun shops constantly.  You have to be at the right place at the right time to find one.  Just stay looking and sooner or later one will pop up.  Just set your price limit and stick to it.  I've seen the FN49's hitting $1,700 and i have seen the egyptian FN49 8mm for as little as $270 too.  You need to weed thru the high priced stuff and look for the bargain basement sort of deal.  Sometimes the lower priced ones look better than the higher priced ones too.

Keep a close look at your local gun shops too for whole collections being traded in.  With everyone trying to come up with cash nowadays your local dealer just may want to get his investment back too. I've seen this before.

Gunshows is another place to look too. I have one local gun vendor who has all the good models were looking for at times and he is priced decent too.  I just never know what he will show up with at each gun show.  But he does have 49's and garands at times.

Don't be afraid to buy that refinished 49 either.  I found one with 3 coats of finish on it.  I took some coarse steelwool and got it down to the orginal finish and it looks great.  I've even repaired some really bad poly finish jobs too.
