I'll second Tim on Varget (mighty good in mild .30-'06 loads, too, with 150-grain bullets). My old favorite bullet in the ought-six, the Hornady 150-grain boattail spire-point, shines in the .308 over a moderate charge of Varget. Check Hodgdon's published data for charge weights, and stay away from the top end unless you're looking for a maximum hunting load.
