Got a free Browning 22
« on: October 12, 2008, 03:58:57 PM »

I usually post in the H&R sections of this forum.  I just wanted to share this. My mom calls and tells me My grandmother has  a 22 rifle she wants me to have.  Well I about fell out when I seen it.  Its a wheel type rear sight Belgium made Browning. Not a serial number on it anywhere. I was told the rear sight is a dead give away it was a 1956-1959 produced gun.  I cleaned it up today It looks better than the pics. now. It shoots like a dream Only thing the way I shoot the hull hit my forearm. I can live with it.  ;D

I now have all (that I know of) grandfather's guns.  Two of which were my great grandfather's . One is a 351 winchester and the other a L.C. Smith double 12 first few years of the Hammerless shotgun. Both were Arkansas prison guns. he was warrden for 15 years in the early 30's.  I also got a oak hand made desk that was built at the prison. I took the drawers out to move it and clean it up and found several OLD wore out pocket knives wrapped up in a oily cloth. There is no tell whoput them in the desk and when.
