Terminal Performance of 40gr NBT in Hornet

Does anyone have any experience shooting ground hogs with a 22 Hornet using 40 gr Nosler Ballistic tips. Do they give instant kills or are you getting pass-thrus?

instant kills.......as long as the shot is under 300 yards. after that i have had quite a few pass throughs. but i think going that long with a hornet may be pushing the limit a bit, although i do it on a semi regular basis.
