model 700 polish job
« on: September 18, 2008, 11:37:33 AM »
I`d like to know how to remove the trigger assembly from my model 700. I`ve reduced the pull to a nice 2 1/2 lbs. but it seems to have a burr. I`ve tried spraying some brake cleaner in it and re-oiling it but that didn`t work. I`m guessing it`s a real pain to fully disassemble the guts and polish it but if I can get this out and some what apart I can push some grit polish in it and cycle it and try to get the burr out that way.     Any ideas would be a great help.

Not trying to be a smartass but if you need to ask how to take it out you have ABSOLUTELY no business taking it apart. Shade tree smiths who really don't know what they are doing is the REAL reason so many Remington guns have what are described as dangerous triggers. It's not in my opinion a short coming in the trigger it's the shoddy work done by folks who have no business messing with them.

If I'm not mistaken (which is a distinct possibility!) I believe Remington trigger assy's are not supposed to be oiled, but left clean and dry.   :-\
