First Rossi
« on: August 16, 2008, 11:28:41 AM »
I just bought my first Rossi today.

Went to the gunshop this morning to buy another H&R ( I have 10 of them now) and somehow came home with a .223 heavy barrel Rossi. Strange how things work.

For $199 out the door I couldn't pass it up. Came with a hard case too.

I put 2 boxes of cheap ammo through it today to start break in.
I noticed something right off. The trigger pull is quite a bit better than most of my H&R's, the extractor works perfectly and the gun opens and closes very smoothly.

It is a little heavier than my H&R .223 but I bought it for target shooting so no big deal.

My initial impressions are this:
The fit and finish is on the same level as the H&R's
Everything is nice and tight and it functions perfectly.
Not the best looking rifle but it is already growing on me. (the white line spacer is a nice touch)
After sighting in it was shooting very respectable groups. (the same as my H&R.223)

So far, so good!!

Like I said, this is my first Rossi and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised with the gun. (after hearing some of the negatives)

I will give a full range report after a proper break in.

Good luck.

I think you will be very happy with the .223.
Mine is a great shooter, even with dirt cheap UMC ammo.
