What about the .41 mag ?
« on: September 07, 2008, 04:53:47 PM »
Any experience here with the .41 mag? I have an opportunity to buy a Ruger s.s. Bisley in .41 and I have never owned or fired a .41.

Thanks,

If I had a good deal on a 41 & wanted a round in that neighborhood I would buy it, much more so as a reloader. The 44 is easier to deal with if you don't reload, with the spcl's & cowboy action ammo available. Of course every other shooter has a 44 & a 41 is less common.

The 41 is an excelent round but beware that factory rounds are limited and availability at your favorite gunshop may be even less and pricey. I have reloaded mine since day one and am loading them with my own cast bullets for about 1/5th the price of factory rounds.
Just another worthless opinion!!

The .41 Mag. has been one of my favorate rounds ever since I discovered handguns , as of right now the only .41 cal. I have is the 41GNR , but should the chance come to buy a Ruger or S&W in that cal. I would jump on it .

As has been said the factory ammo can be hard to find from time to time and your choices will be limited , from a handloading standpoint it can do just about anything the .44 Mag. can do and in most cases its well past the .357 Mag.

Get it , You'll love it !  ;D

Thanks for the input. I am going to take another look tomorrow and see if it is still there. Factory ammo is not an issue as I load nearly everything - have since 1962. Just looks like another good addition.

Personally I really like the .41 as it is the only calibur I own-- after having the .357, 44 and .45 colt- I also have a 41 GNR and a  .41#2-- a 41/445 super mag-in a 12" TC- 210 at 2250-- or a 265 at 2000 and a 305 at 1900 or so-- I have never taken any thing but deer but the .41 is fine for them for sure
