I'm sure they are good.But what I suggest is buying a used older T/C and then buying a GM barrel for it.You will have a better rifle and save money. ;)

QLA on a tc usually means  that it sucks when it comes to shooting conicals.

Actually, conicals are exactly what the QLA was intended for, to help keep them straight and centered when entering the bore, sort of like a built in false muzzle. I've heard more complaints from roundball shooters saying that if they didn't get the patch perfectly centered the ball would sometimes slip off the patch in the QLA. Personally, I never had any problem when cutting patches at the muzzle but I did have to learn not to tug too hard on the patch cloth and to keep my knife very sharp so avoid pulling the ball back out of the QLA. In short, I didn't find it to be either a good thing nor an especially bad thing, just a gimmick.

I've had both. Sent my Hawken back to T/C to have it rebarreled  about 12 years ago.  At first, I didn't care for it, because I was having trouble getting it to shoot accurately.  This last fall, though, I found an outstanding RB load for it and it's shooting good.  It does come in handy for fast reloading of conicals, since no short starter is needed, even with Hornady Great Plains (which have always been tough to start in my T/C barrels).

I have a QLA in my T/C Hawken, 50 cal with 28" 1 in 48" twist barrel and I don’t notice any problems with it.  I use my own cast T/C 350 grain Maxi-Hunter and T/C 370 grain Maxi-Ball with bore buttons under it.

If I need to use a patched round ball, I have a T/C Pennsylvania Hunter, 50 cal with 1 in 66" twist 32" barrel, with no QLA.  I cast my own .490 round balls.

I can’t and won’t tarnish my T/C’S with aftermarket barrels.

Thats like saying I wouldnt tarnish my truck with tires other than the brand it came with. ::)

Green mountain.... after market barrels.  TC should have such good barrels.   kind of like saying a Rolex is an aftermarket watch

Ok, I am not saying Green Mountain barrels are bad; I personally won't use anything but factory barrels that come with my T/C’s.

I got it Traditional only, my bad.

I can't say much about the QLA other than it has to be the problem with my inline.  My TC Hawken has a Green Mountain barrel, L&R lock, and Lyman peep sight.  My Hawken flintlock now shoots better with that barrel and peep sight than my TC Encore shoots with a scope.  I have to vote for Green Mountain all the way.

I never bought a drop in barrel, nor would I.  I fit breech plugs, sights, underribs and tennons myself.  Aint rocket science.  GM barrels have better rifling than TC barrels.  If Green mountain uses a helicoil to breech their drop ins, that is a major accident waiting to happen.  They still make better rifling.    I've graduated beyond GM barrels in my shooting.  Although I still have one or two on the rack in my shop.   If I were to build a gun for a relative to hunt with, I'd probably use a GM.   For the most part TC makes a quality gun, there is room for improvement, the barrels and their frizzens are their sore spots.
