Barrel program hiccups

Sent my .223 in 2 days ago.  I have learned here that it has the hiccups due to the recent buy out which I was not aware of until this morning reading here.  Should I cancel out for a while, or have faith and go forward with it?  I was going to have a .243 bull barrel put on for deer hunting in January.  But have also read that the .243 barrel isn't shooting very well. ???
I'm thinking of telling them to just ship it back to me when they call.  I was told they will call to verify what is to be done, and then payment is made by credit card at that time.
What is the price of new NEF .243 at Wal-Mart?

why don't you just watch for a barrel to come up here in the classifieds?....<><....:)

there is a .243 barrel in the classifieds right now for a decent price:

I've have very poor luck with other folks barrels fitting my receivers.  I'd guess about 30% of the time they worked.  I won't be buying anymore used barrels.  The .243 seems problematic if you follow the threads.

I'd rather just buy a complete gun.

Hey luvthecountrylife,

 I think you'll be fine. My problem may have been one of the hiccups you are refering to. I believe mine is isolated. I think if you sent in now it'll process and come back in due time and you'll be pleased! I actually like what I got (but then again, I like 'em all!)- it's just not what I wanted. :) Also, for what it's worth- I had a .243 SL that I remember shooting just fine. I traded it off to for getting one of the barrels I'm waiting on now. My children have .243's of which We've shot/shoot the oldest a lot and it's a good shooter too. Can't speak of target stuff- but for 100 yard deer- plenty good enough! Hope this helps!

I don't know where you are located buddy but if you are nearby and want to get that .243 barrel I would be glad to help you fit it to your reciever....<><....:)

And by the way, welcome aboard. Come often and stay late, there is much to do and learn here and much information to share. And there is also a pretty nice bunch of guys here as well....<><....:)

I have yet to hear of anyone getting a barrel back from Ilion in satisfactory condition. Like you I sent mine off before I found out about the change over.  If they are going to call you before they start the work that is new, all my contacts with them were initiated by me.

Has anyone received their rifle back and are happy with it after the new barrel was installed recently?

Read plenty of negatives, any positives out there?
I'm trying very hard to be optimistic since my receiver is on the way.
I haven't ruled out a intercept with UPS to "return to sender."
With their tracking system I know where it is at, and it's not far from me.
