Iron sights or scope?  How high above the boreline is the scope?  You will probably be a little high at 100 yards, how high depends on the sights and to a small degree the velocity.

dont know for sure on 270 but if I recall from years ago you could sight an 06 in at 25 yards and it would be dead on at 100 yrds. years ago you could get books that would show the trej. of any given cal. and bullet weight may still be some around but have not looked in years.

With my old .270 I would sight in at 25 yards and it would be 2"-3" high at 100.  O'Connor et. al. used to write of that technique in the slicks.   It isn't the best method because a small error at 25 yards is magnified a lot at 200.

In the OP's case, he is probably between 0.5" and 1" high at 100 yards.

Hi
Keep in mind that the following info is for rifle in 270 with a 135 grn. bullet, info from the latest gun digest.
Muzzle velocity is 3000 fps. energy at 100 yrds is 2315 ft lbs. the traj in inches is as following 2.5 inches high at 100 yrds 1.4 high at 200 yrds. 6 inches low at 300 yrds. and 17.6 inches low at 400 yrds. As bullet leaves barrel it begans to clime out to 200 yrds and then starts to fall off because the velocity is also falling and at 400 yrds it is down to 2178 and the energy is also down to 1421 ft lbs so from this info we see that one would need to aim around 18 inches over the target to be dead on at 400 yrds and with my old eyes I could not see the target much less hit it. :) :) :) I know that this would not apply to a pistol but can give you some idea any way.

My 'other' gun has 40mm scope with 3/8" space under bell (low mounts) and shooting 130gr at 2840 fps is 0 at 25yds, +1/2'' at 50yd, +1" at 100yd, -2"ish at 200yds (approx, groups opened up a little).  Just checked last week.
