S&W 60P ??
« on: October 15, 2008, 02:58:07 PM »
Though I have other .357 revolvers, I'm thinking some about one of the new 60P Smiths. Jeff Quinn tried two on Gunblast, and one shot well, and the other didn't. Anyone here have experience, or info to add? I'm thinking that an accurate one would make a nice trail gun........ of course it would be good in .32 H&R for that use too.

I picked up a nice 60-10 the other day.  It is the 357 mag and 3" barrel, adj sights.  I've shot it with several types of 38 special and it performed very nicely.  I also tried some medium 357 loads.  Definitely a hand full.  I would not want to shot much with these but I see no problem using them in a critical situation.  Overall, I really like the size and handling.  It is now my snake pistol for those early trips to the woods.

Thanks for the input. I was thinking shot loads, and .38 Special to +P, and maybe a couple of .357 loads in the pocket for whatever. I've been casting some Lee 158RNFP bullets this afternoon, and something like that over 231 sounds like it would be appropriate. I haven't handled the gun yet, but did see one in a showcase. I didn't realize that the standard model 60 was about the same thing, and will sure look at them too. Have you benched yours? If so, how does it shoot group wise? I have both 4", and 6" medium frame .357's for heavier duty, but they are also a bit heavier for just a walkabout too.  ;)
