45-70 Gibbs

Local dealer has a "new" Gibbs 45-70 built on a Lithgow No.1 MkIII*. What is the general consensus on these. I have always wanted one, at least when I couldn't get my hands on one. Now that I can, I am a little unsure. He has it priced at $450.

Should I ?????

I've seen several of those and the one's by Navy Arms go for over $500 on gunbroker.  I wouldn't pay that for one, but if you like it.....  You can't shoot any of the big boomer loads in them, both Gibbs and Navy Arms stated the guns were only suitable for standard 300 gr and 405 gr factory ammo (low pressure loads that are safe in the the old guns).

I found one on Gunbroker 2 years ago for $269.00 plus shipping, and I have been VERY happy with it.  A friend in Australia sent me an awesome Peep site for it, and it loves 400 grain plain base cast bullets on top of 42 grains of 3031 though i'm work loads using Re7.
