If loads are approaching maximum it is prudent to back off a grain or two before trying ANY new bullet. Also, a cartridge with a smaller case will be more sensitive to minor changes in a reloading recipe. All that said, I've used Hornady, Nosler, Barnes TSX and Barnes Banded Solids in the 165 to 168 grain versions in a 30/06 with the same powder charge in all and the pressure was not drastically different between the different bullets. The Barnes bullets may be harder but the grooves reduce friction.
