i have an old greener marked -wwgreener 68 haymarket london winner at the london gun trials 1875 1877 1878 1879 on the joint between the barrels serial 3081x  matching under the barrelr and on the trigger guard strap. very nice and still sharp checkering on the forearm and grip  lots of engraving the action is casehardened and the barrels are plum colored  it is hammerless and the safety set on loading 10 gauge and i'd sure appreciate any info anyone can give me on it. like how old is it and what length shells does it take (I dont think 3 in mags were around when it was made.)I think it has been used very little because there are no blemishes on the wood or metal. will post some pics when my camera bateries are recharged.

Okay Torpedoman I have the book in hand.  Here's the pictures we need. Right side action and barrel, left side action and barrel.  Name and addresss.  Proof marks bottom of barrels and on the water table.

68 Haymark is Greener House and was used from  1878 to 1916.

I found this passage in the Greener Book:

"Identifying the type, model, grade, and quality of Greener guns since 1881 can be difficult. Not all type or models were made in all grade and qualities and some guns which look indentical often house entirely different operating mechanisms."

With that caveat, post your pictures and lets see if we can generalized what you have.

it has the haymark address but it is very hard to read the barrel bottom marking is wwg a block type stamp the number 1 and crossed axes with a shield above them another crossed axes with 11b and 12m above it and marked not for ball the inside of the action stamped ww greener patent in an oval inside the oval is the number 930 it also has an elephant stamped on it along with two sets of crossed axes. sorry about the proor pics.

Well, I tried, I went through the book and Greener meant what he said you can't tell what they are from the outside. You have to open the coverplate and look on the inside to figure out what they are.

I can not tell you what gun you have with out having it and the book in the sameplace at the sametime.  I  did find a serial number block thbatri ncludes the number you gave. Serial number 30731 to 30952 made in 1885. The guns are only described as Handmade guns made by W.W.Greener and company.

I think you might have a keeper if it is decent shape.  I suggest you seek out some one knowlwdgable an have it assessed.

It is in excellent shape the checkering in sharp enought to be a bit uncomftorable no damage on wood or metal and the action is very stiff like a new gun  Thank you very much for your time and trouble.

I wouldn't be suprised if it would be valued around 10k. , to collectors.
