I shipped my NEF Nickle SB2 receiver and a .45-70 barrel to Remington on August 15th for fitting and a trigger pull adjustment.  It got to Remington on August 19th.

I sent it to the Remington facility in Ilion, New York.

I received it back today Sept. 4th.  The .45-70 barrel fits great!  Original barrel fits great!  Trigger feels much better! No damage to gun!  shipping box was a new styled Remington box. Gun was shot I believe, but not dirty.

Paper work only said "refit barrel, adjust trigger, test".

No charge

I think some of you miss a rather important issue in all this. The barrel that wasn't cleaned was a muzzleloader. I didn't just have to clean it I had to remove rust from the bore.  That is slightly different from a dirty truck.  I'm pretty sure even Swampman wold think twice about buying a new truck if it rolled up to the front with rust on the ondercarriage from where they test drove it on salty roads and didn't rinse it down afterward (which is a pretty accurate comparision).  Accusing people of trying to hurt a company or working for another company when they tell other people about a legitimate problem they've had with that company seems sorta strange.  I guess we need to eliminate the better business board in all fifty states, they're just workign for CVA, or TC, or whatever company no one has had a problem with.

No disrespect intended, but isn't telling folks on here about a bad experience w/ NEF "Sharing information"???

The way I read it:

Sharing information sounds like:
H&R never has cleaned the bores, whether new or accessory barrels, they're always dirty since they test fire every firearm, not just a sampling, so there's nothing new there. But also not problem on centerfire firearms, it would be nice if they at least cleaned the muzzleloaders tho due to the nature of BP subs.

Tim

Bickering sounds like:

Nobody is twisting your arm forcing you to buy their product.

The whining is getting old real fast!

I wasn't trying to bicker with anyone.

If people aren't happy with Remington then don't buy their products. Plain and simple.

You can quote me on that one too!! ;)

Hey KEVIN:
I just re read every post on this subject and I don't recall reading anywhere about any rust, just dirty.
I did not realize that you were asking because you have had an issue with your muzzle loader.
After re reading your post I can see that the two are some what related.
I probably should have made the connection sooner.
MY FAULT!

As to the dirty truck comment, I was only trying to back up your comment about the raw cheese burger.

No offence intended.

Yeah but the orig. post was about a 7-08.  If I'm missing where a muzzleloading bbl was used please quote it for me... other than Quick's post... None of us are mind readers so please be more specific.

Only after reading his post about the rust and going back and re reading his post of (I'M SOOOO NOT IMPRESSED WITH REMINGTON) did I realize he was talking about the same gun in two different forums.
I now understand the question about was the 7-08 clean.

Are you a CVA employee?  We'd like not to read them but they are all over the internet.  This isn't the place to bash a product everyone loves.

I would appreciate it if you would ask prior to casting my vote.  Like many other folks I am less than pleased with Remington over a number of matters.

Do all the net-nanny posting you wish but please don't speak for me without my consent.

Thanks.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

I own one receiver and a number of barrels including shotgun.  NEF is a utilitarian gun that is offered at a basement price.  It's my belief that the dirty rough condition of their new barrels is a cost containment measure.  For every penny they put into their product they have to charge six cents more for their product.  Your buying a Ford Pinto, not a Mercury Marque.  After proper cleaning and break in my barrels shoot fine for what I want.  That said it's not going to be long before I sell my Pinto (and others) to step up the quality of my collection.    T/C is better quality but you'll pay a premium for their barrels. That's why I own and love my NEF.
When I retire my wife wants to teach out of country, one gun that can handle a lot of different jobs is very appealing.  One case, one frame, and seven barrels.
As for the rust issue, a phone call and send it back with the rust covered patch and they pay the postage.  That one I couldn't accept.  Someone screwed up bad and I'd want a new barrel not the one they started the rust process in.

Hey KEVIN:

No problem.
It was getting a little hot here for a while.
I know about the crossed threads.
That's why it took me a while to realize how the dirty and the rusty came together.
Sometimes we just get lost.
