All About U Ranch
« on: September 02, 2008, 11:40:44 AM »
Has anyone heard about or hunted this ranch?

http://allaboutyouranch.com/index.asp?mid=3&mid2=193
Based out of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

They offer free ranging hogs on 11,000 acres and they advertizing 92% success in 2007 and 95% so far in 2008.

2 days / 2 nights / cabin / meals / 2 hogs (under 250 pounds) for $400.

I know free range means that there may not be a pig on the whole property but if the success rate they post is accurate...

Thanks for any replies

The price on the package seems more than reasonable. I find the stats hard to buy tho IF they are free range. Even high fence preserves can't boast better numbers so something doesn't add up in my mind.

Just clicked the link to take a look. Those hogs in the photos sure look a lot more like pen raised and released than free range to me.

The over all package seems more than fair but I do not think they are being fully honest in their advertising of what they offer.

Price is right...hogs are pigs...not boars.  I hunt high fence without much reservation, but, this place doesn't look right to me.  S'pose its a descent weekend away though.

There isn't a lot of info about the ranch on the internet (just some reviews on bowsite.com). The Better Business Bureau doesn't have them listed but I don't know if that's common among hunting ranches.

They do kinda look pen raised don't they?
The pig in the picture taken with the bow is an example in one of the video links on the site. The pig was hit high, took a few steps forward, and continued eating  ::) I don't know if that's typical behavior or not.

I was trying to put together a economically priced hunt for some internet aquaintences I've met over the years. Basically a cheap way to meet eachother. I don't think we would want to hunt high fences just because of the appearance aspect of it. Even if they are "stocked" on free range it just appears to be more "fair chase".

I don't know

If you can get 75-100 pounds of meat and a few days away, it's probably worth $400.

I own 80 acres near Pauls Valley, OK and can assure you that there are few wild hogs in that part of OK.  Never heard of that place but will try to check it out.  Those are domestic hogs depicted on the website:   Look at the big floppy ears on that huge hog.

Where I live we are overrun with hogs and I've never seen 100 in one day.  As for the average wild hog weighing 175-200lbs, that too sounds a bit far-fetched.  I've killed 50 off of one ranch since the beginning of last year.  I would say only 6 of those were over 200lbs.  They have to be feeding them something to get that many that big.  The price is good...a bit cheaper than anything here in central TX.
