Western holster pattern for 6.5" Ruger SS?
« on: January 11, 2009, 11:06:15 AM »
I ran across a vintage Lawrence 7B .22 cartridge belt sans holster at a pawn shop that I picked up for $15.  The belt is brown with a basket weave pattern and is in excellent shape.

I would like to try my hand at making a western style holster to go along with it for my Ruger Single Six w/ 6.5" barrel.   I have never attempted any kind of leather working before but I am a finish carpenter by trade and I am pretty handy working with my hands.  If any of you have made a holster for a Single Six I sure could use some tips and pointers on how to get started.  Where to find a good pattern, what tools I will need, , etc.

Thanks
