The .223 is just as good as either, and a lot cheaper to shoot.  It is the best of the centerfire .22s unless you are made of money.

I own and shoot both, but I'd go with the 22 250 for the longer shots. Some of the 22 250 Handi's don't shoot that good,so I'd go with a bolt gun with that caliber. The Handi in the 223 caliber is best choice in my way of thinking. It will do fine out to 300 yds.,but after that its a little on the weak side for coyotes. My personal favorite coyote gun is a 220 Swift that I've taken coyotes at 665 yds.  Hope this helps.  Digger

I looked seriously at the .223 when I got my .22-250, but IMHO the 2 bucks more a box for .22-250 Rem or Hornady is well worth a faster bullet, flatter trajectory and more energy.  And, I'm not made out of money.  Besides, I don't shoot FMJ in any of my rifles for safety reasons, and that's why I don't buy Mil Surp ammo.  Hearing them whine away off into the distance makes me nervous.
Keep both eyes open and make the first shot good.

I would choose the 223 Remington over them both.

I don't have a Handi, but I debated over the 204 Ruger and 22-250 Remington for my T/C Encore and I went with the 223 Remington and couldn't be happier.  Cheaper brass and cheaper ammo.

The 22-250 and the 204 are so close the only "real" difference is the recoil. If you like a big bang, then go with the 22-250,if you want a little less go with the 204.Both will drop your coyote.

I had pretty much decided on a 223 but then got to reading about the 204 and then i saw a box of 40 22-250 rounds at WalMart for 25 so that got me to thinking at that too

If i am correct you already have a 25-06. i would skip the 22-250 and the 223
and go with the 204. I have a 204 bull barrel, kinda like shootin a 22lr for
recoil

If I were going to try shots at 600 yards, I wouldn't buy a Handi.

There aren't a lot of 600 yard shots in ARKANSAS or anywhere east of the Mississippi.

Get the .223 ;)
