Speer 300gr JFP
« on: August 08, 2003, 05:42:19 PM »
Hi all,
Anyone have experience loading Speer's 300gr JFP bullets in a 454 Casull?

I did some myself (w/ H110 - 29gr) and they shot pretty well.  Then I found some info on Speer's website about their 300gr Gold Dot HP. In that info they say not to load the JFP for the loads they list for the GDHP.

Are the JFP's not up to snuff for the 454?  I know you have to use heavy duty bullets for the 454 pressures...

I normally use Hornady's 300gr HP XTP/MAG, but I wanted a flat point for more penetration for black bear.  I'm sure the Hornady would be fine for blackies, but I though a flat point might be a little better...

thanks,

Ryan
