I have been looking for a new fishfinder for my boat. The current fishfinder is 15 years old. It does find fish, but it needs updating.
One of the new fishfinders to catch my interest is the Humminbird Matrix. Two of the higher price models have built-in gps units. For the other Matrix models you can buy a gps reciever or hookup a handheld gps. In my case I would have to buy an adapter cord from Humminbird and an adapter cord from Garmin to plug my Garmin Legend into some of the Matrix models. Sounds neat to me, and I could has fishfinder w/a gps unit, take advantage of topo software(man made lakes), and the interface with my computer.
In turn having a gps built into the fishfinder must have certain advantages. I believe the Matrix line is relatively new. Has anybody wired a handheld into a Matrix? How is it working out. Has anybody tried the Matrix models with the built in gps?
