Conversion from #11 to a 209 Primer
« on: September 16, 2008, 08:51:57 PM »
I have a Ruger 77/50 and wish to convert the ignition system to a 209 primer.  I am having a lot of problems with #11's.  I usually shoot MMP sabots and two 50 gr. pyrodex pellets. Is there a kit available that I can install or do I have to go to a gunsmith.  Any information would be great.

Thanks in advance

Cabelas use to have a conversion BP for the Ruger 77/50 - do not know if it is still available - think the same guy in Quebec that makes the Remington 700ml conversion also made the 77/50 conversion... Might have to search the net for a Ruger 77/50 209 conversion
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....

I have a 77/50 that I have used for several years.  I have had zero problems igniting T7 loose powder with CCI #11 caps.  When I tested T7 pellets I had to use CCI #11 Mag caps to get it to fire reliably.

Cabela's seems to have stopped carrying the Ruger 77/50 209 conversion kit.  I see this kit on Gun Broker right now and it looks like it is being sold by the manufacturer of the kit.

Thanks Guys, I found it on GunBroker from the manufacturer.  My problem was with the pyrodex pellets.  I could try the #11 Mag.  Thanks as always for taking the time to reply.
