This is what I remember. A couple years ago or so there was a newspaper article about some wild boar escaping from a game farm enclosure near Thurman. They supposidly took up residence on some nearby public hunting land. The DNR was attempting to trap them there. The DNR did not want anyone to hunt them on the public land because they thought hunting pressure would drive them out to the surrounding land where they would be more difficult to catch or kill. I have not heard anything about the results the DNR had. A couple years ago guy (not someone I knew) living in the south-central part of the state told me where I could find a wild hog. However, upon going there I saw the area was fenced in. I think maybe he just wanted me to shoot a pig belonging to a farmer he did not like? Also, about 10 years ago I saw a group of about 10 or so of what I thought were miniture pot-bellied pigs. They were in a picked corn field that was un-fenced. They did not look wild enough to shoot.
