IKE----FROM MY PERSPECTIVE
« on: September 19, 2008, 08:02:07 AM »
Howdy Boys
The weather was nice in Salado.
Back home on Sunday after the storm. Really messed up Houston. Good spirits shown by all---lots of co-operation, neighbors helping neighbors---we will be OK in a month or two---well, some will be.
I have no power---lost a tree--no damage too the house---did I mention, NO POWER.
My daughter lost some shingles---she has power and we visit---A LOT.
My son's house got hammered---but they have power too a home  that is uninhabitable---losy shingles on one side---the rain poured thru and the ceilings fell in in the LR, DR, den and kitchen--but they havepower.
The only way too look at it is that for $3000 they get a complete remodel---but they have power.
They took it in stride, started cleaning up as the storm was going on. It will take about 6 months for this too be  cleared up. They are looking for an apartment today---if they can find one undamaged.
As for the storm it was huge--my friend Buddy lives in Marapas Louisiana and they got more water up the bayou than the did from Katrina, Rita or Gustav.
Luckily we only had a storm surge of about 15 feet.
Galveston is a ghost town. Now water, sewer, electricity and all the people told too leave until further notice. The island, well the coast is a wreck.
We are blessed.
Blessings
TEXAS, by GOD

You are all ok and that is what is really important even though you did go to Salado.
