Old hunters never die......
« on: September 12, 2008, 03:15:46 PM »
.........they just keep looking for birds in the sky. My last post was a happy note because I'll be taking two youngsters out hunting tomorrow for the youth pheasant hunt, but on a sad note I am compelled to relate that as two enter the sport one of us has passed. An old hunting buddy of my dad's, and a retired member of the FDNY, passed on yesterday. Bird watching with his wife in Long Island. Although I never hunted with John Fritz I know all the stories of my dad's hunts with him by heart. I knew him to be a great man and a great outdoorsman. I will miss you John and I will think of you often this fall. May you continue to see ducks as beautiful as that old squaw mount of yours......

My brother was dying from cancer about ten years ago.His buddys took him out for his last hunt. They set up a small tent with a heater and a stool at the edge of a field. He didn't get anything but he had a good time. When I visited his gravesight in the national cemetary on Long Island there were several Deer there    Watching Over. Strange?  Horsefeathers.
