« on: October 01, 2008, 11:07:45 AM »
Just had one of these rifles given to me, seems to be in fairly decent shape.  Just curious what anyone can tell me about these, as I have no manual or anything, so I'm learning from scratch with this thing.  any help would be appreciated.  all I know of it so far is that its a 50 cal... haha.  thanks for any info 8)

is it the single trigger or double ? 1-48 twist will shoot prb/concial/ the modern bullet holding plastic thing. 70-100 grs loose powder 3f blk or pyro p or 2f pyrodex or T-7- BH209. decent ML i have ownrd 2 of them.

You can call T/C (603-330-5659) and they will send you a manual. The Renegade is a great gun. You can use either T/C barrels or Green Mountain barrels for more versatility. You can have a .32 cal barrel for small game all the way up to a .62 smooth bore with either shot for turkey, etc or a .600, 325 gr patched round ball for big game.

You can download the manual, all of their manuals are available on their website.  ;)

Thanks for the replies guys.  Its the single trigger.  Soon as I'm off here I'll go see about downloading one of those manuals.  I'm gunna plan on using either black fff or pyrodex P, since those are what my other guns shoot well.  Maybe someday I'll get a green mountain barrel with a faster twist, since I like to shoot big conicals.  I'll see how she does with prb in the mean time though and maybe the minies.  Thanks again for the help  ;D

I shoot 424 gr. Lyman Shocker conicals in my renegade 50, and the 1/48 twist loves them. (No keyholes) at 100 yd targets
It also likes roundball . I have a Green Mountain 62 smoothbore barrel and will deer hunt with it this year.

The Renegade is a great rifle, and has the  Thompson lifetime warranty.

The ONLY muzzle loading rifle I own is a single trigger Renegade .50 caliber. I shoot only Buffalo Bullets or Hornady Great Plains bullets which are a clone of the BB and use 100 grains equivalent Pyrodex in mine.
