357 Contender

Just bought a 10" 357 mag barrel.Took it to the range got it on paper at 25 yds. shot 5 rounds threw one out three one ragged hole one less than 3/8 off.
Used 38Sp wallyworld Win white box 125 gr.flat nose.Pleased? YES
Should I expect from 357 shells?

.357 Mag. 5 shots @ 25 yds = 1 ragged hole.

  I've shot the .357 in a 10" to 100 meters although, I'm not real impressed with factory accuracy at that distance.  Mine seemed to shoot easily to 75 meters and wanted to kick to the side at 100 meters. They'll make somewhere around 165 or 200 yards but, I'd prefer handloads for that kind of distance. The factory stuff is HOT to me. Of course, nobody can say Winchester is underpowered. I never have.

   A .357 Magnum compared to a .38 Special? In a contender-twice the kick, muzzle blast, and trajectory.  I recommend a firm grip and get ready for the barrel to climb(kicks upward). Lots of power in your hand!

I would have the barrel rechambered to .357 MAX. This will help accuracy and give you a little more range with heavy bullets. T/C puts too much freebore in these barrels. The MAX would clean this up. Some one like Mike Bellm can do this rechamber. I think he can be found on the SP forum.
