.270/.444 combo
« on: September 27, 2008, 09:17:28 AM »
After a year without buying a new one a new handi is finally coming home.  Went to the local dealer yesterday and they had a .270 fluted/.444 combo with camo synthetic stock.  Don't know much about the .270 fluted in a handi but I'm sure it'll be great.  Any info on this would be appreciated.  Altogether I don't think it was a bad deal for $329.

Any regular plastic stock set around here is 250, so sounds like a good buy to me.  Don't have the 270, I'm a 280 guy, but I have the 444 Handy and it's a lotta fun.  My 14 year old likes to play with it as well.  DP

Congrats and welcome back!! ;) I have the fluted 270, Mac11700 bought the Davidson's special order combo last year and parted it out in February, someone got the stock and 444 barrel, I got the frame and 270 barrel, didn't need the stock, I already have one. If the stock is the same, it's wood, not synthetic, I have one on my 30-30, it's the same stock that comes on one of the Partner shotguns. The synthetic camo stock is also available from H&R, pics of both below.  I haven't shot the fluted 270 barrel, but I have had several 270 H&Rs, have two now, they shoot very well. I also have the .444 Handi, it shoots under 2" with factory ammo, and under half that with handloaded 240gr, 265gr jacketed, and 355gr cast. You'll be happy with both barrels, they're good ones.
