Hello,
Last night I drilled and tapped my M1969.
Here's the setup I have on it now. It's 19*F and I'm going to try to site it in. Can't find my bore sighter, but that's ok.If I do well, I'll post groups here.
Later...It seems to like Remington subsonics the best. I tried CCI subsonics, but they seem to shoot to a way different point of aim than everything else. But, by the time I got through with the Remington and Federal stuff, I was pretty worn out. I shot one huge group with CCI Mini-Mags, then settled down and shot almost as well as with the Remingtons. I think that if I started out fresh, the CCI Mini-Mags would tie for accuracy with the Remington subsonic.
I really need to get more CCI Mini-Mag Hollowpoint to try - I found I'm almost out, not enough to sight in, and I don't feel like running back into town.
I really hope I'm wrong about the CCI subsonics shooting funky, because I do want a subsonic HP load that shoots well, and someone on another board says that according to his tests, the Remington stuff doesn't expand - and it's the only subsonic that doesn't.
Any more info on them expanding or not, anyone?
Here are the pics, both Remington subsonic HP 40gr loads at 50 yards:
Not quite sighted in...... and BINGO!Not bad for leaning over a truck hood...
I think it's like a law of nature or something that when you're shooting for accuracy, three out of five rounds will touch and two will fly. I don't like this and really have to get it figured out. My Mosin does the same thing.
The 'scope is something in and of itself. I've never heard of the company - FM - but it seems to be a quality product. I'm hoping it's a relatively unknown company that's selling their products cheaply (about $50 for this fixed 4x lighted reticle version) that will end up doubling in price once a good reputation is established.
I'm also looking forward to trying out this lighted reticle. I have my choice of green or red, with five intensity settings on each. I put a 'scope on nearly every .22 I owned - heck, Dad 'scoped my first Daisy BB gun for me! - and there have been several times when a lighted reticle would have been handy.
I've never had a 'scope where there was a manual adjustment for yardage either. Parallax adjustment, or what? Anyone?
Hopefully I'll get to shoot some more .22 ammo tomorrow, and find an reliable expander that this rifle likes.
