surveyor, glad ya liked it. They have a real gem with the VTR, checking availability is proof, they are selling like crazy :)

NAM, awesome shooting. Having confidence in your rifle is everything and you obviously have that.

I haven't posted on this for some time, so you all may know about this.....  have you guys seen the ones with all black stocks that are out now?  I don't think it's called the VTR (when it's got the black stock), but it's exactly the same rifle.

If it's the same rifle but has a black stock available, I don't see why they'd change the name. I don't see any mention of it on Remmy's website. Time for more digging....

I did a google search and GunsAmerica auctions came up with having black stock models. Are people possibly putting the black SPS Varmint stock on it? If not, sounds like a special run that maybe only 1 distributor has, like the green SPS Varmint stocks Dicks has(which Gander Mountain also current has).

Things that make ya go Hmmmmmmmm

I own a Tikka T3 30-06 which is absurdly accurate, but a lot more difficult shoot than the Remington 700 VRT.  I think that the Remington has a better trigger. I think that with any sort of load tuning, it should not be difficult to get the Remington to shoot 1 jagged hole. In fact, I would venture to say that the 3/4" group the gun shot was due to my shooting error. I bet that it would shoot 1 hole if I could shoot better.  I never have warmed up to that Tikka, but I guarantee that I will warm up to the new Remington when I can afford one.

I'm sure that the black stocks are distributor specials.  Gotta have black on black for that "tactical" look I guess.  I couldn't find them on Remington's website either, but they are on Gunbroker, under more than one seller.  Price is the same as the green.

I got a VTR in 204 ruger and after 100 rounds through the barrel I think Remington has a real winner here. With factory ammo I'm getting sub 3/4 inch groups, and I'm not a very good shot. I'm sure with a little practice and some reloads it likes I can do a lot better with it. The triangle barrel really does cool quite efficiently, and the new X-mark trigger once adjusted down to 2.5lbs is very nice and crisp. I wanted a rifle and caliber that wound be a good varmint and predator field gun and the VTR 204 fits the bill perfectly. And it is way more accurate that I can shoot. It has a cool looking factor going for it, and balances in my hands like I like. What more can you ask for?

I shot my 204 VTR this morning with a new powder-H322. I mostly shot 34 grain Dogtowns but I also shot 2 goups with 35 grain Bergers. I don't do alot of plinking with the Bergers. My rifle still needs some more trigger work and I ordered a pull guage today. Anyhow it was windy and that was really bothering me. Here's a couple of pics that I shot with the Bergers. Even tho it looks like there is only 4 holes both are 5 shot groups. For the most part the dog towns were sub inch also. Keep in mind the wind factor. Dave

Guys,
I sure would like to have any load data for the 308 VTR.

Bullet, bullet weight, brass used, primer used, power and power weight.  Also like to have OAL of the round.

I saw one at the gun show yesterday.  I didn't check to see what the caliber was.  They are interesting, but I don't think I'd buy one.
