Too much hog hunting?
« on: October 11, 2008, 07:15:32 AM »
Last night my daughter and I were driving to watch our local HS football team play a nearby rival.  On the way I spotted what I thought was a hog a good ways off.  As I got closer I realized I was right and saw not only the big sow, but also several of her piglets nearby.  Immediately I began to slow down and my hand reached down to where my rifle usually is.  Seriously, I'm going down the highway at 70mph to a football game, see a hog, and immediately go into kill mode.  Somethings wrong with me.

Maybe it's like that twilight zone episode where you're the only sane one in a world where everyone else is insane, but since they're all insane they think you're insane and lock you up in an institution?

Anyway, keep tipping them over and embrace your insanity.  It'll make that long slide into senility all the easier.  ;D

Aw baloney!  Go have a couple of pork chops and ask your daughter to help you get the pork roast ready for dinner.  Also tell her that when she gets a little older she can do the shootin' and you'll do the draggin', not the other way around (lololol)............... Mikey.

I have the same reaction...except some of the best viewing/locating hog places are on the Federal rocket ranches I have the pleasure of routinely visiting.  It is very frustrating.

Since the Clintons, there have been a lot of Draconian rules instituted against badged, law abiding, registered, concealed weapons toting personnel on these Federal installations.  Leave 'em off base or face work ending Federal charges if you're caught by random searching.  More of the gun ban crowd's playground...and Florida is a right to Carry State.  Go Figure.

How that Anti-anti-gun sentiment got included on a decent hog hunting thread...I don't know.  Must not be my day.

You need to carry a small cap gun with you as I do.  Sometimes I when I see a deer, rabbit, squirrel, grouse, racoon, goose, duck, groundhog, etc....    I just got to smell some gun powder.  I pop it off a few tims and the smell and noise soooooths my nerves and shakey trigger finger.

at least you didn't reaize you didn't have the rifle and try using a F250 like my friend did when he saw a buck two years ago.  He drove 120 yards into the woods chasing what he refered to as bull winkle.
Besides what's more American than football and BBQ.  Those little pigletts make perfect things for whole hogs on the smoker.
Think mini pig pick.
you have a problem if your daughter gets married on opening day of deer season like my cousin did and show up late with a deer in the bed of the truck.
