Rem 700 - Canjar Trigger
« on: August 29, 2008, 03:16:51 AM »
I have a Canjar trigger for a Remington 700 that is fantastic! But,,, it doesn't have a bolt release. When it is installed there is no way to remove the bolt to clean the bore.

Is there a remedy for this?  Can the trigger be altered somehow to allow the bolt to be removed? Nobody told me I wouldn't be able to remove the bolt or I wouldn't have bought the stinkin' trigger in the first place. Why would Canjar do something like this?

This is actually common on competition triggers.

One method is add a bolt release to the side of the action and remove the factory stop.  Sinclair International carries the add-on release, need to tap a 1/4 hole in the side of the action to install it. This works great and is MUCH easier than ANY trigger based release.

Go with a Ruger bolt release.  It will require some relieving of the stock to fit, besides some mill work.  It however actually provides a spring loaded buffer when you fully rack the bolt back.  Plus, I like the cool factor it added to my rifle.  It looks slick along with the three position safety.  Does yours still have the safety?
