Ok fella's just curious how many of you out there have a finicky or picky barrel? One or more that everything has to be just right as in seating depth, primer choice, moon phase ect, or it wont group worth beans.
Also how many do you have that will just shoot no matter what you feed it?

My .223 barrel will group anything you feed it , I had a .357 maximum that would not group no matter what I tried !!

My 357-44 and 30 herrett barrels give me alot of trouble.I have been working with 30 herrett for a while and nothing works very good.The 357-44 will not shoot anything over 158 grains but it is starting to come around pretty good now with the 125gr xtp bullets.Both 7-30 barrels i have,223 rem,357 herrett,375 win,30-30 are the easy ones.The 7-30 and 223 will shoot great with nearly any load.

I though I had one of those "factory junk" barrels in Project 41 - then I screwed my head on straight, and realized it was the guy behind the trigger making the barrel finicky. Of course, maybe the barrel and I just came to a mutual agreement - I'd stop partial sizing cases, and it would start shooting MOA for me. Don't really know, but we've been getting along quite well for some time now.

My 30 Herrett in the contender did not shoot MOA. Only one load would go to an inch. Now it's a 312 Bellm. The 32-20 10 inch and .223 14 inch shoot good with anything I load.
My encore carbine 26 inch bull barrel in .22-250 after about 500 round I have two groups under an inch. Have not repeated the small groups. Factory shoots 3 to 4 inch groups. After this week end of shooting this barrel is fixing to be rechambered to a 22-243.

Wish I had an Encore frame - I'd trade you something for a while till I got that 22-250 shooting. How much load development have you done with that barrel - or better yet when did you do your development. I've found most of the local guys do their load development in the summer then expect it to perform the same when fall comes. IMO - you need a stable load, one that isn't partial to temperature/humidity swings. This stable load may not be your most accurate, but it will be your most consistent. Meaning that it may not shoot 1/2" groups at 100 yards, but it will shoot 3/4" groups any day of the week, in any weather.

How is that .312 Bellm?

The 312 Bellm is very good.

I will hold MOA with anything I load. With good bullets and load it will shoot 1/2 MOA. I also shot some 1 1/2 inch groups at 200 yards. I shoots good with .310, .311 and .312 dia. bullets. It is my best barrel. It kicks.
I got an encore because I did not see going for a G-2, I have an contender. I wanted to go to somthing heavy. Never had a carbine, so a 22-250 carbine I got. I had a .223 barrel for my contender.
I started out with with factory loads. Winchester 40gr and Remington 55gr.
3-4 inch group is all I got. I have tried 52gr match, 55gr match and hunting, and 60gr bullets. The load developmet has gone on from Spring to the Nex Weekend. Out of 400 round only two groups under an inch.
I started by adding washer under the fore end. It droped the size some. I got a hangar bar from W and free floated the barrel. It droped the sizxe abut an inch and half. Put new trigger spring in, made the trigger real nice.
I'll bet that after rechambering it will shoot good.
My chamber is very long, my reloads will not fit in any rifle.

I also have encore , The stainless 26 inch .223 has shot sub moa from the day I first shot it . It was a no brainer with that one gettin sub 1/2 MOA . It has a very short throat and a bullet longer than most 55 grain bullets would have to use a shorter than spec COL. , I usually shoot 50 grainers. my contender 14 inch pistol on the other hand has a throat so long the bullet will fall out of the case before it reaches the lands Booth shoot great .

Have you tried a crimp on the 22-250 ? sometimes that can be just the ticket for a long throated barrel.

I will try to crimp the next round that I will load for this weekend.
I used Hornady V-max 60 gr. last week end I used a load that worked with 60 gr Sierra #1375 it shot .987 @ 100yds. The Sierra's were moly coated.
The same load with the V-max had very high pressur. I am moly coating the V-max's as we speak.
I will post my Sunday shooting results.
I know that this barrel will shoot. But it will be one or two loads. It will not shoot factory loads. I will try facory Hornady loads before I give up on factory.

moly - coated? You may have just found your problem. I'm not speaking from experience - but that moly coating thing has been debated since it's inception. I've never tinkered with it solely because of the good-bad debating. Just a thought - I don't know.

I am curious - have you shot any non-coated bullets since you've used moly coated ones? How about some good old fashioned solid data - like some velocity strings, deviation #'s, etc.
