Optima vs.Encore
« on: July 28, 2003, 02:54:25 PM »
The optima pro will interchande barrell caliber from 45 to 50 and 50  to 45. the Encore will interchange with CF rifles , shot guns... the list goes on.

Strictly B.P.

What would you go for if you wanted a B.P. rifle.
Optima pro is runing around 229 to 289 while the Encore is a few hundred more.
Who has compared accuracy?
I want to know, because I am asked this question almost every day.
 Thanks, guys
Cheers,

There is no comparison at all, the Encore is a FAR better gun, and totally different than the Optima-- which is nothing more than an H & R "Topper" shotgun action.

My Encore shoots sub 1" in .50 caliber, the best I could wring out of my test Optima was 3-1/2 to 4". It took a lot of work to get it even to that point.

For anybody that has held both in their hands, the difference is clear.

I will agree with Randy although I have never shot the optima I believe the Encore is a far better rifle. To me it is just  cheaper copy of the encore. Just like winchester has came out with one like the Omega. And there is another one that is like the encore it is called the New Frontier Beartooth and it is by CVA. It is also a breakopen action. The price is $128.44 at BassPro. I seen it and it looks cheap. Just thought I would throw that at ya.

Optima v. Encore

I'm in the same boat, looking at both of these guns.  It's hard to justify spending $250 more for the Encore, when they function the same.  Are there any "official" accuracy comparisons?  No offense to Mr. Wakeman who obviously is extremely knowledgeable, but he seems to have a lot of people riled up over his obvious opposition to CVA and Traditions, with his comments on unsafe production.  Any insight would be appreciated.

I bought my Encore muzzleloader last summer and glad I did. I now have two rifle barrels that I need to shoot. Just remember you get what you pay for.
