Free Onions

A month or two ago, I bought a bundle of green onions at the store.  As I used the tops in corn bread & salads, I stuck the bottom part (the bulb) in a pot of dirt on my deck.  I now just go out and trim off what I need.  They grow back as fast as I can use them.  I'm sure some of you already knew this trick but I felt pretty smug.  I love green onions.  This has made a nice addition to my herbs, and it didn't cost me nothing to speak of.

You sound like a man that knows how to fix a meal. I'm from down south Georgia about 20 miles from Vidalia where the onions are grown. Like you I use the tops as much as the onion itself. Its hard to pass up a pan of fresh baked corn bread and onion, maybe a little hot red pepper to give it some kick.

Let the rich folks have their caviar I will take the bacon grease and onions anyday. It would be un religious to take them away.
