cabin 4 :  I am showing a western auto in model 200-2550 to be a marlin 336 then a 200-2554 to be a marlin 336 (44mag)  and then a 205 which is a mossburg 472pch but as far as a western automotive cant locate that if it is different than the western auto, and then dont show a model 207 :D   JIM

Can't find much, but I believe the Western Auto "Revelation" lever gun in 30-30 was a Marlin 336.

If your rifle has safety lever mounted on left hand side of receiver(looking forward) it's a clone of the mossberg's medntioned prev. Otherwise probably from Marlin ... fwiw Littlenate :D

Thanks for the cross ref chart. man I searched the web upside down and backwards and could not come up with any meaningful info on these western fields. This chart is great.

I will call this guy and tell him to take another look at the gun.

Thanks

SavageT,

Your not going to believe this but, thats the site I saw it on !

I met Gene Huber (The Firearms Broker) at a local gun show. He had some nice stuff so I introduced myself and we talked for a while. He is local to were I live and had never met him prior to this particular gun show. He gave me his business card and , well thats about it.

Occasionally I check his web-site to see what he has and if theres anything interesting. Currently I am in a "gun buying" mode, more specifically for a lever gun, so I checked his site and saw that 207 listed. Did some research and came up with nothin untill posting here at GB and you gave me the cross referance sheet.

I am going to call him and find out whats the deal. There is a gun show this weekend in Leesport PA, I'm going to that show and according to his web site he will be there to. If its in excellant condition as stated on his site, I may just take that one off his hands.

Thanks

cabin4,
Wow, I guess I did good, Ah?  I found the only listing to date????  What are the chances?
At any rate, If this is in fact a Marlin lever and you want it for hunting I'd say go for it.  But,........ if you're a collector, it sure ain't worth what he's asking for a collectable!!  New Marlins aren't that much more.

SavageT,

Yes you did very good.

Not looking for a collectors gun. Just looking for another lever gun to throw up on the old rack and take to the fields.

I have my eyes set on a number of lever guns and I will have to this one to know if its one I want.

Just received this from Mr. Huber.......

207 made by Marlin. Stock has been shortened and it has a rubber boot over the end which has some tears in it.  Not pulling any punches just telling you like it is.  the rifle it self is in excellent condition and has a 4 power weaver scope.  Sorry no digital camera yet.  I hope to have one soon

SavageT,
Thanks for passing that on.  It dosen't sound very good. He will likly have it at the show but the thing about the rubber boot sounds real ugly.

Well............you see I have a confession.  I purchased a Savage 99 in absolutely gorgious condition!. It looked fine till I measured the LOP and discovered someone had cut off about 2 inches off the butt.  It was a good job because they put the original Savage steel butt plate back on so it looked perfectly normal, except the pull is a bit short even for me and I'm just 5'6''w/ short arms.  So I got one of those Pachmeyer slip-on decelerator pads and presto by jingo, I got back most of my stock pull!  You'll have to decide for yourself if you can live with the "chopped block".
Good Luck!
