opinion on 243 ultra accuracy
« on: October 02, 2008, 09:12:12 AM »
I am thinking about buying a Ultra in 243 for my son. I have been hearing a lot of talk about the accuracy problems some are having with this caliber in the Handi. Any thoughts or opinions on this?

heres my opinion: mine will group in the two's (sometimes smaller) with both 55gr loads and 95gr loads. i love mine . the only 243 in the handi family that has bad problems is the super light. every gun no matter what cal or make some times you just get a bad one.

i think the 243 ultra would make a great gun for your son. it don't kick that bad even with full power 95 grain loads. shoots great and kills like a hammer, from mice to deer
curiosity killed the cat , but i was lead suspect for a while

I own a 243 ultra thumbhole bbl,,,at the start of my shooting at the range,,I was getting about 2'' grouping at 100 yard's,,,,but with 80-90 rounds through her now,,and 80 grain,,,my last visit was just over 1'' grouping at 100 yard's,,,barrel break-in,is definitely tightening thing's up

My son has the ultra light. We did not test it on a real bench yet, but we never had any weird fliers like some talk about. I am sure we can do 2 " at 100yds.
