Ruger MkII Government Target Model
« on: October 05, 2008, 04:07:45 AM »
I have a MKII Government Target and thought I would bring it out on active duty this fall and have some fun....do some squirrel hunting with it...

The sights are getting alittle blurry with me....getting up in the middle age.....the old eyes....So pondering...just pondering.....the thought of drilling and tapping someday..so to put on some optics...

Will drilling and tapping hurt the value of my pistol? Are the Government Target Models alittle higher in value?

Thanks

I don't know if drilling and tapping will have much effect on the value, but My MK II GC is drilled and tapped. I mounted an Ultradot LT on mine. The thing seems to be as accurate as most rifles. Really super. Put a scope of your choice on yours and see how good it really is.

Later model Mark II target pistols all came drilled and tapped, so I don't think tapping yours would significantly hurt its value... If it were a pristine, never fired, still in the box, pistol, then it would be more valuable to a collector in original condition, but for a gun that is to be used.... go for it!

B Square makes a good No Drill mount...try a red dot and you'll be glad you did.

I will check out the B square....and a red dot is what I will probably put on it...if I do anything.

Will probably send it back to Ruger and have it drilled and tapped and maybe have their base put in it......

Thanks guys!
