I trapped 2 a long time ago that were cutting the trees in my yard, then one a couple years ago as a project with my son. This summer the city asked me to remove beavers that were damming a culvert. Shot 2 and trapped one and the culvert got fixed. Beavers had this 50 or 75 foot long by 6 or 8 foot diameter culvert so messed up that water began to eat underneath it. The upstream end got forced up 4-6 feet in the air, nearly wrecked the road and flooded a huge area. Three beavers did as much damage as a back hoe and D6 could do I think.
Now I'm fired up to get some upstream relatives who are trying to move down to the culvert. Season opens 10/10 here and I hope to have some 330's waiting.
11-1-08 About 10/16 I finally got some traps in the water. Bang caught 2 overnight. One was about 34 pounds the other 48. One in a Duke 330 and the big one I caught on the front foot with a Duke #3 coil - lucky he tangled in his feed pile.
I have to agree beaver trapping hooks ya. I have to admire anyone who can trap skin and stretch a 100 or more per season - that's serious work. It takes me forever to do 2.
