Barnes 150gr TTSX in .308
« on: October 11, 2008, 04:50:16 AM »
Does anyone have any experience loading the Barnes 150gr TTSX in their .308? How did it do accuracy-wise and did it perform in the field well for you?

I will be trying Varget first in my load development as I am a big fan of this powder and it has worked very well for me in .223, .243, and the .308. I emailed Barnes and they recommended H4895 as their most accurate powder for this setup.

I would appreciate any info anyone has. This is my first experience with any of Barnes' bullets.

I've shot the 168gr TSX in my 308 using Varget, it works very well.  ;) They recommend using TSX data for the TTSX, I've almost bought a box of them several times, but I have so many other .308" bullets that I haven't....yet!! Next times Sportsman's Warehouse has a coupon sale I'll probably give in and get em!!

Good shooting BJM!!!  ;)

Take note that these bullets are recommended to be seated .050" off the lands. They need a little running start before they hit the lands.

Tim and LaOtto222,

Thanks for the info as this is just the kind of information I am looking for. I have heard so many good things about the Barnes TSX that I had to try them. I found a really nice Remington 788 (1973) earlier this year that I want to start tuning in. I tried some Win Powerpoints that came with the rifle and they grouped very nicely.

Thanks again guys ...
