.458 w/ sabot in a Huntsman?
« on: October 19, 2008, 04:08:56 AM »
I happen to have a wide variety of .458 and .459 cast bullets for my BC and compared it to one of my 230 gr bullets for my Huntsman.  They appear to be the same diameter.  Can I use them with a sabot in a .50?

The .458/.459 may appear to be the same diameter as a .451/.452 bullet, but I assure you you may need a big hammer to get them down the bore in one of the black sabots. MMP makes a orange sabot for .457/.458 bullets that would serve you better for your bullets.

Scroll down to where it says this, on the second chart on this page. "HPH Sabot Series, Our High Performance Product Line".

50 Cal. Rifle
0457 - .458 Bullet Orange  250 - 500 Grains 250 - 300 Grains

Del's HPH direct price may appear high $10.75/bag of 50, but it also includes shipping.

You can also get the standard sabots (top chart) for $7.75/bag of 50 delivered.
