LETS DISCUSS SETTING UP DIES FOR THE ENCORE???????

I have read several INDIVIDUALS adjust their dies to form the brass for their Encore. How do you do That???

Do you make some kinda of Casting of the actual chamber??

Perhaps you could briefly list the step you do in setting up your dies for reloading??

I am sure others would appreciate this very basic bit of information as well as myself.

What chambering are we talking about?  Factory or wildcat?  It matters.  But really, reloading for a Contender or Encore is no different from loading for 'most any other firearm, except that  headspacing off the shoulder is arguably more important.  A great discussion of doing this is found on page 104 of the Speer Reloading Manual #14.  It of course mentions using their branded tools, but regardless it is a good discussion.

I use the stoneypoint tools for all my measuring that mount on a caliper, same as new Hornady lock n load sets.
I shoot some full sized cases for what ever caliber it is
then i measure from head stamp=base to shoulder and get a reading.
then I set my die out a bit and keep working it down to the point that it just
bumps the shoulder back so as to not over work the brass any more than needed.
I have found sometimes that the die ends up almost as the manufacture says to set it up but sometimes not.
then I also use a fired case from said gun and bump the shoulder same as a reload and drill and tap it
and make my modified case to get bullet to lands or O.A.L. setting If it is rimmed like a 30-30 I dont bump the shoulder to make my modified case.

1.  Size cases in the usual way.  I usually neck size if the cartridges will all be fired in the same barrel but full length sizing is also fine.

2.  I take a loaded cartridge and set the bullet seating die so when the cartridge is inserted, the action won't close because the bullet is engaging the lands.  I then adjust the bullet seating die in small increments until the action closes easily.
