I've had one for 4 years. Originally got it for my CZ452, but the day before deer gun season, my Banner 3-9-40 lost its hold and out of emergency it went on my Knight LK-93. I was still able to get 6 shots under 1 1/4 with it at 100 yards.  Very clear, enought view, reticle is very fine though!  Has taken 100 .50 shots or more with no problem.  Its going on my next muzzy, since my 10 yoa has the LK-93 now.

Don't confuse the original Simmons Prohunter with the Master Series Prohunter, the Master Series wasn't available until 2006. ;)

I have one of their 3x10x44 master series pro hunter on a .243 and I can find no fault with it. I will buy another.

I put one on my hk 91. Excellent clarity! I use this for hog control on the farm. It has taken hogs out to 424 yards(my longest shot). I could see the definition of the hairs on the hogs back and clumps of mud (which turned out to be about 3/8") on his legs. There is no washout at the perimeter of the lense. As for cost vs. performance. It would compare to the better quality scopes lower models, so about twice as much.
My closest shot was 18 yards, it was clear then, but didn't have time to focus on the clarity.
