I know of no better place to start than the TC manual that should have come with your rifle or barrel.  If it didn't, a quick call to customer service at TC will get one on the way to you at no cost or you can down load in on line.  My personal preferance is towards saboted 240-250gr pure lead pistol bullets(I find zero reasons to shoot jacketed bullets inside a plastic sabot) on top of 90-110 gr of loose(non pellet type) 777 powder.  I figure I save enough in a year on bullets and powder(I like to shoot a LOT) to purchase another Encore or Contender barrel.  How's that for logic.  BTW, the Encore is my all time favorite muzzle loader too. GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt  ;)

1.  Buy some plastic sabots for the bullet diameter you intend to use.

2.  Buy handgun bullets in your selected diameter.

3.  Load it over the Pioneer powder (I use the stick form) Jim Shockey pushes.  For once, this is a product that works as advertised; i.e., no muss, no fuss and very little fouling.  You can shoot bunches of time without having to clean the barrel unlike other products.

4.  Another option is to buy the muzzle loader bullet/sabot combo packs put out by a number of manufacturers.

My Encore likes 100 grains of loose 2f 777, a 250 grain T/C Shockwave bullet and a Remington Kleenbore primer. I used this combo last Saturday to take a roughly 100 lb doe at 150 yards. Exit hole through the ribs was a little bigger than a golf ball. Groups on paper at 100 yards are 3 holes touching if I do my part.
