Pedersoli Sharps Question
« on: October 11, 2008, 11:10:18 AM »
I just bought a Pedersoli Sharps Long Range in 45-70.  It has the 34 inch bbl. set triggers- stunning wood, a Kelly front globe, Pedersoli Soule type long range rear.  A friend of mine got it left to him in his Dad's will and he doesn't shoot at all.
First- are they worth having?
Second, what's a good price- it's mint. ???

Pedersoli Sharps rifles are very well respected and are very accurate. In some ways they are the equal of the custom made U.S. Sharps.
Wood to metal fit may not be perfect and the flats on the barrel may not be exactly flat but all in all a very desirable rifle.

I cant give you the value. The best places to check would be the online gun auctions and see what they are actually selling for. I believe they hold their value fairly well.

I had one that I loved and would shoot clover leaf groups at 100 yards. I just don't like the recoil and it is heavy. The quality is good. I sold mine with target sights last year for $1200.00. Check the the gun auction sites, always a good place to see what they are bringing.

Thanks for the replies- I shot it today- it's heavy so the recoil isn't noticable to me at least.  I think I'm gonna like it.  Our range only goes out to 100 yds and it put three into about an inch.

Howdy Toby

Hang on to your Rifle, you will only like it more every time you shoot it I don't think the Pedersoli's are second best to any American made Rifle, and I never thought I would say this  but from what I've seen and heard, I think you can be right proud to own a Pedersoli Sharps Rifle, I just got one myself, but have to wait to shoot it, I just had shoulder surgery a week ago so I have to bit the bullet for a while, I can't wait to get it to the range. ;D I have a friend that has the same Rifle I do, and set up the same way , and he is hitting a target out to 1179 yds, and thats with a 45/70, with a mid range Soule site.

Enjoy your Rifle, and hang on to it you'll be glad you did  ???
