Swaging Press
« on: July 01, 2008, 02:15:56 AM »
Hi Fellas , I am anew member on this forum but I have been following it for some time .I have a problem . I want to buy a swaging-reloading press. I would like a Walnut Hill as a first choice .
The problem is I ordered a Walnut Hill over a year ago and I have Had quite a few excuses but I have not got any result as of now . I asked Richard Corbin If he would be willing to send a press to Australia and he said yes it would not be a problem. I sent him an order and gave him my credit card details
and he said he would send a press in 3 months time .That was 3 inquiries and 1 year ago .
Are they that hard to get ? Maybe I should order from David Corbin but I really do like the Walnut hill . Maybe it just takes a long time to get one . Any body else had trouble ? Thanks

At present two presses are on order from customers in Australia.  One was ordered by a Mr. Sowden.  Mr. Sowden bid, won, and paid for items on an Ebay auction.  The items were sent to him, he has them.  He has done a "chargeback" claiming the charges were not authorized.  Until PayPal resolves the matter of the fradulent chargeback no further shipments will be made to Mr. Sowden.  Considering that Mr. Sowden has also done chargebacks on other Ebay sellers the likelyhood of my recovering the over $300 is not good.
The other customer, a Mr. K., had a press on order but I have cancelled the order.  I have tried to reach him without luck by email and have sent a letter to him by USPS.  I never received a reply to the letter which caused me to assume the press was no longer wanted.  He did provide a charge card to pay for the press but no charges have been made to his card.  If he should still want the press he should contact be as I have not been able to contact him.
By the way I just talked to someone who has had a press on order for seven months from my competition so it looks as if backorders are not a unique problem.
I do not normally pay attention to forums or respond to things said on them but decided to make an exception.

access on the account. BTW  ALL chargebacks on the account were unauthorised. >: :o

neither paypal or e-bay have very good security Someone opened a VERIFIED paypal acct with my e bay info,. I was never contacted anywere along the line by mail phone of e mail altho the acct had my email info on it.. When asked about their lack of security their response was to ban me from e bay. You may wish to be real careful and watch your e bay  acct real close. Me, i won't do business with either because of their anti gun actions.(used to buy some items never had a paypal acct)

This does not seem to really be the place for this but since the issue has been opened I feel that I should state that nothing has been resolved regarding the fradulent chargebacks by Mr. Sowden.  As of 07-02-08 Mr. Sowden's bank, on behalf of Mr. Sowden, has filed a counter-claim to PayPal's request that the chargeback be cancelled.  This issue is still open and is definately not resolved.  Nothing further has been done since the date mentioned.  Mr. Sowden has the products and his bank or PayPal have the money.  This can drag on until the middle of August at which time it must be settled.  But these fraudlent chargebacks have cost me and others considerable time and money beyond the cost of the goods and shipping costs.  This has caused considerable inconvenience for myself and the others who have had their PayPal accounts frozen.

Val Sowden here again.
Once again I was unaware of the chargeback request by the bank. Which incidentally was due to unauthorised access to my account. Of which the seller was made aware. Now apparantly the bank does not notify the buyer when there is a chargeback request, only the seller. So I was blissfully unaware of what was going on. I spoke to Paypal, yet again, and was advised of this.
Paypal advise that the funds will be released to seller now that the matter of the unauthorised access to my account has been sorted out.
As much as this has been annoying for the seller, it has been equally frustrating to me. I have had to change accounts and passwords, plus had numerous phone calls to the bank and paypal trying to sort everything out.

Plus having my name brandished all over the forum has been embarrassing considering the seller was well aware that I have been trying to get this matter sorted so that he could be paid.

I have not received any response to emails to the seller about my change of address and email, or whether or not he will supply the press that is currently on order.   I do not believe this is the place to have discussed this matter however, I feel duty bound to respond to the allegations.

I do want to add that the quality of the goods I have received are excellent and I hope we are able to continue to do business in the future, now that my paypal problem has been sorted out.

This will be the last posting to this issue that I will make.  In order to be sure that I have my facts straight I have spoken to PayPal and to my credit card processing company regarding how chargebacks are done.  Mr. Sowden filed the first chargeback.  According to both PayPal and the card processing company it could not have been done by anyone else.  That chargeback was resolved a month or more ago but a second chargeback was immediately filed.  Once again, according to PayPal and the card company, ONLY Mr. Sowden could have filed the second chargeback.  The bank would not have done it, only the card holder can do it.  Mr. Sowden claims that the issue has been resolved.  That is an out and out lie and nothing could be further from the truth.  The second chargeback is in effect and another seventy-five days could pass before that chargeback is settled.  I would have liked to have believed that Mr. Sowden was somehow the victim of some sort of charge card fraud but according to the experts he and no one else filed both chargebacks.

Bison: Have you gotten your press yet? Richard Corbin makes good stuff. He has had some production delays waiting for parts, powder coating, etc. I have a Walnut Hill and really like it.

Bill , I have received my Walnut Hill Press . I love it . In hindsight I was probably a little hard on Richard . As I get older my patience gets shorter . He is a small business and is probably flat out keeping to orders. I have since ordered a few of his specials and received them quickly . I guess good things are worth the wait . Thanks to all , Bison-j

Bison: Glad to hear that all's well that ends well. Richard makes a nice press, doesn't he?
