I remember when these came out. My dad and I were getting ammo for a rabbit hunt and I suggested we try them. He looked at the price and said "Hmmm... Are the bullets solid gold, or what?"
He bought us a box, and 1st time out in my Win 62A I got a jack at about 150 yds. When I heard it hit (THAAAAWOCK!!!), I figured the bullet had done some serious damage. It did. They shoot flatter than most LR, and we were able to get jacks at longer ranges with them.
We had a lot of fun shooting water-filled pop cans with them too. I still use them today. Not benchrest ammo, but they sure can put the hurt on a potato at 100 yards.
The first ones had a pentagonal-shaped hollow point. I thought that was cool as a kid, and was dissapointed when they went to a round hole
Keep in mind that some 'match' chambered rifles are reamed shorter than standard and Stingers are not suitable for use in them due to the longer case...
