Quick Eval of Uberti Regulators in 45 LC
« on: July 25, 2003, 08:18:04 AM »
Got a pair of consecutively numbered 5 1/2" Ubeti Regulators for back-up.  Found them on the Internet for $600 for the pair.  When it was all said and done (shipping and FFL) came to $650--not too bad for two of them.
These are different from my RV's; not bad or good just different.
Went out today with my brother and did some shooting.  Hit pretty close to point of aim and had a nice "roll" in my hand.
One did have a burr on the loading gate but a minute with a stone took care of that.  Put about 100 rounds though the pair and by the end they had loosened up and were match ready.  Don't even plan on taking them to a gunsmith for an action job--trigger is fine right out of the box.
I did learn that I'm not a left-handed shooter     Could hardly hold the gun, let alone hit the target.  Tore up my wrist back in 1972 and never has been the same (but the scar is a nice conversation starter  ).
For the $$ these are a nice addition to my gun safe.  Will be using them for back-up and as loaners for new shooters coming out to try CAS.
Now when Big Ed finishs up with their leather we'll be good to go.....

   Loaners?  Loaners?  Talk about Texans being generous!  If Michigan was closer to Texas, I'd come down and try them.  On second thought, why don't I live in Texas? (or Arizona or some other gun friendly state!)   Came through there on a motorcycle trip this spring.  I was impressed with Texas, Arizona, New Mexico (not so gun friendly?)  Utah and Colorado were beautiful, but don't know if I could live there.   Of course I have bought guns at the right price for trading opportunities, but not for loaners.  My hat's off to you.            44 Man

It's not really that bad here.  We finally got a "shall issue" concealed carry law.  It's real pretty with all the green and trees (if you live in the northern half of the state.)  I can go out in my backyard and shoot and the neighbors don't care.  (well, haven't tried it at 3 in the morning!)  The grass always looks greener, you know?  I do have to say, if I were to move, Texas and Arizona would have to be tops on the list.  I bought a pair of consecutive numbered American Western Arms 4 3/4" in .44 spl a while back.  Had a cosmetic problem with one and returned it, ended up with a different serial#.  Not to happy about that, but they wouldn't do anything different.  I do like the guns.  Picked up a used Hartford .45colt 5 1/2" a couple of weeks ago.  It was cheap and I planned to use it for trading stock until I shot it.  Now I can't sell it, it shoots too good!  So now I will have to buy a mate to it, and a couple of holsters...............it never ends, does it.

I have 3 EMF Hartfords .  Two in .32-20 and one .45 Colt.  All three have 7.5" barrels.  The are made by Uberti and I REALLY like them.  I shoot duelist and have never had any trouble with them.  The front sights were extra tall and I filed them to zero at 20 yards.  The front sights are also quite soft.  It is easy to adjust the windage with a small tweak on the upper 1/3 of the sight with a crescent wrench.  Go easy.

I loaned my .45 Hartford and my Schofield .45 to a new shooter yesterday.  The only thing I insist on ,  is they use my reloads.  Saw a felelr get a Schfield blown up when he loaned it to a pard and the pard furnished his own reloads.

You see,  we too are pretty good folks here in Mississippi,

I think I will do a 7.5" cavalry in .45 to go with the 5.5" artillary Hartford instead of finding an exact mate.  Of course Gun Parts Corp sells lot of barrels so I could do anything!  Good idea with the reloads, hadn't thought of that.  Good shooting.    44 man

Uh oh,   Jays (our local go-to gun dealer) has a Uberti Regulator w/ 5 1/2" bbl for $300 in the used case.  Looks like new.  I'm afraid this is going to cost me!
