Shot The Remington 700ML
« on: October 18, 2008, 01:55:45 AM »
I took it to the range yesterday to get it on paper.  I fired about 25 rounds.  All these are with 80 grains of Pyrodex RS & a Remington #11 cap.  I think I could do better at 100 with a different scope.  The Nikon 2-7X32 if focused at 25 or 50 isn't in focus at 100.  Perhaps a little heavier charge might tighten the 100 yard group??  Clean up with Windex wasn't bad.  I damp patched between shots with Windex.  I was very pleased with the patched round ball.  I have a bunch of them.  Not too shabby for $225.00, and a bunch of left over shooting stuff from the closet.

3 shots @ 50 Yards T/C Cheap Shot

3 shots @ 100 Yards T/C Cheap Shot

3 shots @ 25 yards using .490PRB and a pillow ticking spit patch

Thanks for sharing. Good looking rifle. My 700ML is blue. Try some 240gr sabots and see how it shoots.

My ML700 Shoots very well with Barnes 300gr Expanders and 100gr of 777 with 209 primers.  It sure is a nice handling muzzle loader.  The only problem I've had with it was at the range it went off when I cocked the bolt or flipped the safety off.  Took it to a gun smith and he said a screw wasn't fitting properly in the trigger?  Anyway, he fixed it and its been killing deer ever since.

I handled one yesterday in a gun store that had 'rare' on the tag.  They wanted $350 for it.  I opened the bolt and it wasn't pink on the inside, so I don't know what they meant by 'rare'. ;)

Was it a .54?  They are hard to get.
